If you are looking to elevate your results in internet marketing but so far all you have experienced is launch after mildly disappointing launch with items that you feel rival some of those being offered by the “big guns” it may be time to stop being in awe and to objectively evaluate some of what they are doing.
You can learn some valuable lessons from successful internet marketers and increase your internet marketing success by modeling (an appreciative type of copying!) what they do.
Let’s take a look at 3 things that internet marketing experts do to ensure their product launch is a million dollar success:
1. Create anticipation
One of the main things they will do is create anticipation. Think of a few big names in internet marketing like Mike Filsaime, Jason James, Shawn Casey, Willie Crawford and others and think about their most recent product launch. Do you remember being surprised the day it went public? Of course not. You knew that product was coming weeks in advance.
They let everyone know that something exciting was on the way. They teased, tempted and revealed just enough information combined with infectious excitement to get everyone’s attention.
They created excitement and anticipation.
You might not be able to muster the firestorm of controversy and interest a well-known internet marketing expert can, but you can find ways to plant seeds of anticipation and to get people prepared in advance to buy your product.
2. Recruit affiliates and offer them affiliate bonuses
Remember that you can’t do it all yourself. Your launch will be much more successful if you recruit the help of other internet marketers as affiliates and while you are at it add a little friendly competition to the mix!
Human nature is such that nothing is better than winning and providing your affiliate with financial and/or product bonuses will motivate them to sell hard and win the race!
Also knowing that there is a rival internet marketer ahead of them can spur them on to do more promoting than they usually would in an effort to move ahead of them.
You may not have the finances available to provide a $50,000 watch as the first prize but you can still go some way to offering something. Whether it is an ipod, notebook, $350 in cash or some other incentive, consider offering incentives as a motivational tool for affiliates to sell your product.
Sometimes an upgrade of your product or the opportunity to promote to your list may also be enough of an incentive to encourage your affiliates to make an effort with their promotional activities.
Providing them with all the tools they need such as banners, text links, pre-written emails/blog posts can also help to make it a little easier for them and remember to stay in touch with them every step of the way, don’t think because you sent out one email that they will remember you!
3. Set up a squeeze page pre-notification list for potential customers
We all like to be the first to buy something new and it can be an incentive for people to sign up for a launch if they think that they are “special” and will be one of the first to know, before anyone else.
Also this is a highly targeted and valuable list because they signed up as people interested in what you have to offer so you know there is a good chance of them buying.
Squeeze pages are one of the most effective ways to build an opt in list and should be used at all times but are particularly effective for pre-notification launches.
If your affiliates can start promoting and send their subscribers to join this list (knowing they will be credited for the sale) then that’s even better.
Again it is important to stay in touch with people so once they join let them know how you are doing and what stage the launch is at, especially in the final week.
Fast action bonuses for the first people who buy your product will also help to ensure that one launch day your pre-notification list are the first people out the door with credit card in hand!
4. Add Incentives To Your Main Product
Adding an incentive or two by offering free and fast action bonuses might put enough weight on the “buy” side of the scale to convert those tyre kickers into buyers. By providing your prospective customers with something extra, you increase the perceived value of your offer tremendously.
Instead of just getting one valuable product, they receive additional interesting offers and products. It can be almost irresistible and remember the more related the bundled materials are, the more likely the bonus will be to succeed.
You also allow buyers to experience the sense of getting “something for nothing.” Everyone loves a free bonus of any sort, and internet buyers are no exception.
Take a moment to look around at some of the sites operated by well-known internet marketing successes. You will probably notice that the bulk of those sales pages offer some sort of free bonus to encourage immediate action.
5. Successful internet marketing experts don’t rest after the launch.
You’d think that after a massive successful product introduction those gurus would just sit back and count their cash. They don’t. They keep marketing that product. They keep it on people’s mind. They remind late buyers that they have a second chance and they gleefully report the positive comments and feedback they have received from those who bought early.
Yes, internet marketing does allow you to create residual income streams. However, you shouldn’t confuse residual with maintenance-free. Keep promoting after the launch.
Push your product hard until it’s exhausted its possibilities. Even the best don’t rest upon their laurels.
Internet marketing gurus aren’t on top of their field because of luck. In most cases, they aren’t there because of the right product, either.
Their continued success and immediate recognition comes from their skills, techniques and persistence.
You may not be positioned to create the world’s most talked about new product launch yet, buy you are always in a position to learn from the best.
So remember these five things next time you are looking to launch your product, create anticipation, recruit affiliates and offer them bonuses, start a pre-notification list, add incentives and remember that the real work starts after the launch.
